Our spaces

Eight rooms, 10 to 600 guests

Large weddings rarely fit one room. Most families use two or three across the celebration — a smaller space for the engagement or henna night, a ballroom for the reception. All under one roof, one address, one car park.

Plus four smaller spaces for the events around the wedding — Sketch Room (30–100), The Fernery (20–90), Sky Room (20–50) and the Signature Room (10–50) — for the engagement, henna night, ceremony signing or after-party. Most large weddings here use two or three rooms across the celebration.

Planning for 300–600 guests? The MEC Ballroom is our largest space and the default choice for big receptions — a wide double-door processional entry that a full troupe can move through, a large sunken dance floor, and staging and power for live musicians. Whether that entrance is a zaffa, a baraat or a grand reveal, the room is built for it.

Ceremony & reception, one address

Nobody drives between venues

Hold your Poruwa, Nikah or Hindu ceremony in one of our rooms and move straight through to the reception. Your guests park once. Elderly relatives aren’t shuttled across Melbourne. There’s no two-hour gap where momentum dies.

Food

Cook with us, or bring your own caterer

Most large Melbourne venues won’t let an external kitchen through the door. We will. If your family has used the same caterer for three generations, bring them.

Option 01

In-house catering

Our kitchen is halal and our menus are built around your service style rather than forced into a standard reception format.

  • Halal-certified kitchen
  • Arab, Pakistani, Afghan and Indonesian menus
  • Indian, Sri Lankan, Middle Eastern, Western and Mediterranean
  • Seated, banquet, buffet, shared-platter or cocktail service
  • Continuous mezze and grazing rather than a single drop
  • Dessert, sweets and late-night food stations
Option 02

Bring your own caterer

Your caterer, our commercial kitchen. Full access, dedicated loading and prep areas, and our floor team coordinating service timing on the night.

  • Your own halal-certified or family caterer
  • Full commercial kitchen access
  • Dedicated loading dock and prep areas
  • Separate sweets, dessert and knefeh vendors welcome
  • Service timing coordinated with our floor team
  • Late-night manoush, shawarma or supper service
Option 03

Hybrid

Some families split it. Our kitchen handles the mains and beverage service; your vendors bring the sweets, the cart and the late-night food.

  • Venue catering plus your external vendors
  • Traditional dishes from a family caterer
  • Dessert and sweets tables
  • Dietary and allergy management across both
  • Single point of coordination on the night
  • One run sheet, one team

Dry weddings handled properly, not as an afterthought. Completely alcohol-free receptions are standard here — mocktail and juice bars, a non-alcoholic champagne tower, Arabic coffee and tea stations. A full licensed bar is equally available, and where families need it, beverage service can differ by room.

Small extras, not the reason to book us. The room is the reason.

Free Phone Booth

A vintage handset on a styled table. Guests lift it, hear your greeting, and leave a voice message — the toast your uncle was too shy to make, your grandmother’s blessing, the friends who stayed until 1am. Every recording is delivered to you after the wedding.

Ultima hosted our Sinhalese Buddhist wedding and the Poruwa ceremony was absolutely perfect. The team understood every ritual, the Kandyan dancers made a spectacular entrance, and the hall looked breathtaking. Every guest is still talking about it.

Planning our wedding with Ultima was a smooth, stress-free experience from start to finish. Kim was incredibly responsive and supportive throughout, and Inder looked after our guests so attentively on the day. The food was definitely the highlight!

Guests flying in

When half your guest list is on a plane

Large multicultural weddings are rarely all-local. When 40, 80 or 150 of your guests are flying in from Colombo, Chennai, Beirut, Auckland or Sydney, their travel stops being their problem and becomes yours.

Accommodation minutes away

We work with a partner apartment hotel roughly 5–7 minutes from the venue. Eligible couples may be able to access an arranged corporate rate for guests, subject to availability and the terms at the time of booking.

Floor plans and layouts handled remotely

Most interstate couples only need to travel to Melbourne once before the wedding — if at all.

Interstate families are a normal week here

Straight answers

Large wedding questions

How much does a 400-guest wedding cost in Melbourne?

At Ultima, all-inclusive wedding packages run from $120 to $200 per guest plus GST, so a 400-guest wedding is indicatively $48,000 to $80,000 plus GST depending on menu, beverage package, room and date. Venue-hire-only options start from $5,990 plus GST for families bringing their own caterer.

Is there parking for 500 guests?

Yes — more than 200 free on-site car spaces. There is no parking fee and no long walk in formal wear, and a 400-guest wedding does not turn into a residential-street parking problem. Most large Melbourne venues either charge for parking or have none.

Do you offer halal catering for large weddings?

Yes. Ultima operates a halal kitchen offering Indian, Middle Eastern, Western and Mediterranean menus, served plated, banquet, buffet or cocktail style. You can also bring your own halal-certified caterer and use the commercial kitchen, or run a hybrid of both. Fully dry, alcohol-free receptions are catered for as standard.

Can we hold the ceremony and reception at the same venue?

Yes. Ultima has five indoor ceremony spaces and two outdoor options, including The Arbour (100–200 guests). Guests then move directly to the MEC or Pearl Ballroom for the reception — no travel between sites and no gap in the timeline.

How far in advance should we book a large wedding?

For a 300+ guest Saturday wedding, 12–18 months is typical. Saturday dates in 2027 are limited. Fridays and Sundays offer better availability and often better value.
