A Real Ultima Wedding

Maha & Haitham

A chance meeting in Syria, two years of long-distance love and a joyful Melbourne wedding that was worth every moment of the wait.

Their Love Story

A journey that crossed oceans

Maha and Haitham’s story began with a smile on a street in Syria. A spontaneous dinner by the beach soon became something much deeper, leading to a beautiful engagement, two years apart and, finally, the beginning of their new life together in Australia.

Their wedding at Ultima Function Centre was a celebration of patience, family and a love that only grew stronger through the distance.

How did the two of you meet?

Our story began when I travelled to Syria for a holiday. One day, I saw Haitham walking near our house. We looked at each other and smiled, and I immediately felt that I wanted to know him better.

He came over and asked whether I would like to go out for dinner. We rode on his motorbike to a romantic spot near the beach, and from that evening onward we began spending more time together—talking, laughing and getting to know one another.

Before long, we had fallen in love. We told our families and celebrated a beautiful engagement in Syria surrounded by the people closest to us.

Soon after, I returned to Australia. We then spent two years apart while waiting for Haitham’s visa to be approved. Long distance was challenging, but it made our relationship even stronger. When he finally arrived in Australia, we could begin our new life together and celebrate the wedding we had dreamed about for so long.

What made Ultima Function Centre feel right?

From the moment we visited Ultima Function Centre, we knew it was the perfect venue for our wedding. The ballroom was beautiful, and we could immediately picture ourselves celebrating there with our family and friends.

The team was warm, supportive and incredibly helpful. They made the planning process feel stress-free, and on the wedding day everything ran perfectly. We could not have asked for a better venue for such a special occasion.

What moment will stay with you forever?

It is almost impossible to choose one favourite moment because every second—from the morning until the very last minute—was incredible. It truly was one of the best nights of our lives.

But the moment we walked into the ballroom for the first time as husband and wife will always be especially meaningful. Seeing our family and friends celebrating with us, surrounded by the beautiful décor, was overwhelming in the best possible way. The love, happiness and energy in the room created a memory we will never forget.

What advice would you share with other couples?

Do not stress over every small detail, because everything comes together in the end. Choose vendors you trust, enjoy the planning process and remember that the wedding day passes much faster than you expect.

Take a moment together to appreciate being surrounded by the people you love most. Keep smiling, keep laughing and do not allow small worries—or anyone else—to take away from your happiness. Be present and enjoy every second.
